Dillanthology Vol 1 & 2

Easily one of the most influential hip-hop producers to grace vinyl, Detroit’s own J Dilla (James Yancy) still lives through music, 3 years after his death. Dillanthology Vol 1 & 2 are collections of remixes he did for various groups including De La Soul, Pharcyde, Busta Rhymes and Four Tet.
His production prowess and use of samples are second to none. Jay Dee manufactured infectious beats, not only on his own productions with Slum Village but also walked the extra mile when doing work for others.
Dilla played the game from all sides of the field. He worked with local rising artists like Phat Kat and Amp Fiddler as well as his hero Pete Rock and mega star Janet Jackson. He worked in the studio as producer, rapper and instrumentalist. MCA picked him up as a solo artist but he loved the independent pursuit most.
